About CONCORD Sweden

CONCORD Sweden is a NGO, Non Governmental Organisation, based in Stockholm and is the Swedish platform of CONCORD, a European NGO confederation for relief and development.

CONCORD Sweden aims to promote cooperation, information-sharing and joint advocacy initiatives between Swedish NGOs and those in other EU countries on development policy and development cooperation issues vis-à-vis the EU institutions. It also aims to act as a platform on other issues that have been jointly agreed by its member organisations.

CONCORD Sweden carries out activities in Sweden relating to the mandate of CONCORD Europe. CONCORD Sweden appoints Swedish representatives to various bodies within CONCORD Europe and is responsible for providing information to its member organisations about the activities of CONCORD Europe as well as other development related issues at EU level.
CONCORD Sweden convenes national meetings, conferences and seminars as part of this work. It also has a mandate to hold other types of joint activities.

Membership

CONCORD Sweden is open to membership for any Swedish NGO (non-profit association or foundation) and for umbrella organisations of NGOs that support the aim of CONCORD Sweden.
Requirements for membership are a democratic organisational structure and that the applicant organisation presents a narrative and financial annual report for the two years preceding the application.

An organisation that does not seek full membership of CONCORD Sweden may be granted observer status by the general assembly. On payment of a fee, an observer may receive information from CONCORD Europe and participate in a non-voting capacity in the activities of CONCORD Sweden.

The general assembly is the highest decision-making body of CONCORD Sweden and it is held at least once a year.
